Macronomics: Indian Corporate Debt market no longer attractive to Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs)


Today we look at a strange situation in corporate debt investments by Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs). While they continue to increase their investments in equities and government bonds, they are running out of the corporate bond market. 

While the investment picture by FPIs in Indian equities seems rosy (clearly seen by the investment of Rs. 41,000 Cr since January 2015), they seem to have been protecting their backs when it comes to investment in corporate debt which has seen a lower investment since October 2015 . . .
